Roll offs to enable trash collection at transfer station.Even
though the Barton Transfer Station will be closed until further notice due to severe flooding from Tropical Storm Lee, the
Tioga County Legislature will be temporarily locating roll offs at the transfer station so residents may bring bags of household
waste (no flood debris or loose garbage). This service will be available starting Oct. 25 until Nov. 23. Hours of operation
will be Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. Due to the method of
collection, there will be a charge of $2 per bag. They are requesting individuals to bring exact change. This service is
being provided until a final decision on the future of the transfer station is made by the Legislature.

Tioga County Historical Museum Needs
|
Here's a note we're sharing from the Tioga County
Historical Society Museum: The damage caused by the recent flooding due to Tropical Storm Lee was substantial. A great portion of our
collections, research center, offices, and supplies were affected. We would like our supporters to know that we are working
hard with a professional recovery team to salvage and restore as many materials as possible and thoroughly cleanse the building
to ensure the safety of our visitors in the future. The museum will remain closed until further notice. However, know that we are working
to move forward and continue our operations. We will hold our annual O Tannenbaum fundraiser as planned. If you are interested
in assisting our recovery efforts, we encourage you to contribute to our disaster recovery fund. At this time, we need all
the support the community can offer. We would greatly appreciate any contribution you can make, especially in these times
of hardship. In addition, if you have any office furniture, we are in great need of chairs, desks, and file cabinets. Please
consider giving to the Tioga County Historical Society. On behalf of the staff, volunteers, and board of the Tioga County Historical Society,
I would like to express concern and sympathy to those affected by the flooding. We hope everyone is safe and well. As the community rebuilds,
know that our county’s history and stories will continue to be preserved and told for generations to come. Please contact
us at museum@tiogahistory.org if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for your ongoing support.
Sincerely, Kevin Lentz Acting
Director Tioga County Historical Society 110 Front Street Owego, NY 13827
