Sept. 7, Rabies Clinic. 6-7:00 p.m. Newark Valley Fire Station,
State Rt 38, Newark Valley, NY. ( Dr. West). Sponsored by the Tioga County Health Dept. Division of Environmental
Health. Clinic is available for dogs, cats and domesticated ferrets.
A $5 donation per animal is requested, but not required. The vaccine will not be administered unless pets are under
control with dogs on a leash and cats either leashed or boxed, and both accompanied by a responsible adult. You must also
show proof of previous vaccination, and lack of this will result in this shot being considered a first time vaccination
for the animal and effective for a one year period only. All other vaccinations are effective for a three year period.

County Remembering 9/11 TIOGA COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT The American Red Cross and Tioga
County have joined together to host a blood drive in remembrance of the tragedy of September 11th. The blood drive
will take place at the Tioga County Health and Human Services Building on State Rt. 38 in Owego on Friday September
10th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Please call the Health Department at 607-687-8600 and ask for Blood
Drive Registration to make your appointment. The blood drive is open to the public. All donors will receive a coupon
for a FREE oil change & tire rotation at Midas!!

Unwanted Household Pharmaceutical Collection Flyer
AmeriCorps (Rural Health Service Coprs) position in Richford available
beginning December 2010. Rural Health Associates (Richford): Northern Tioga Neighbors Network
(Richford, N.Y.) and Lourdes Northern Tioga Center for Family Health Provide support for both a
community volunteer organization and the Lourdes Hospital primary care practice in Richford, N.Y. This position consists
of 1710 hours of service over 10-12 months. A living allowance of $11,800, Education Award of $4725, health insurance

________________________________________________________ Tioga Adult Learning Lab
The Tioga Adult Learning Lab (T.A.L.L.) has released the dates of free computer
classes for Fall 2010. T.A.L.L., serving adult students from Broome, Tioga and surrounding counties, is operated by Literacy
Volunteers of Broome/Tioga Counties, Inc. in partnership with Tioga County, NY, and the Owego-Apalachin Central School District.
T.A.L.L. provides instruction in introductory level computer applications, and offers vocational assistance to those seeking
employment. T.A.L.L offers free high speed Internet connections, and the staff works with adults to improve their personal
workplace skills, offers resume and cover letter formatting, lends assistance with Civil Service Exam preparation, and provides
students with software to learn basic keyboarding and typing skills. There are no fees for any of the workshops or services
T.A.L.L. provides. T.A.L.L. operates evenings, Monday through Thursday
from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Room 248 at the Owego Free Academy. T.A.L.L. is
now accepting registrations for the upcoming fall classes: Two six-week sessions of “Basics of Microsoft Windows XP,
Word & Excel”, will begin on Monday, September 13 for classes meeting every Monday and Wednesday evening; and
will begin Thursday, September 16 for classes meeting every Tuesday and Thursday evening. Instruction will center on the
use of Microsoft Word, the latest in office word-processing software, and Microsoft Excel, also the latest available spreadsheet
program Microsoft offers. Students need to pre-register for computer classes by calling Literacy Volunteers office at (607)
748-5478. Class meeting times will be given out upon registration. For more
details concerning the classes offered, about the T.A.L.L. program in general, or to speak with the program instructor, call
the Literacy Volunteers office at (607) 748-5478. Literacy Volunteers is a United Way agency.

14, 2009. Click on the DEC link below to read the press release and be well informed on the new open burning regulation.
In towns with a total population less than 20,000, you may burn tree limbs with attached leaves.
The limbs must be less than 6 inches in diameter and 8 feet in length (also referred to as brush). However, this is not allowed
from March 16 through May 14 due to the increased risk of wildfires.
